It all started in a basement storage room in Södertälje, March 2021. Then automatic weapons were found that were confiscated by the police and exchanged for replicas. The suspects were fully acquitted by the Supreme Court in April this year, as the court ruled that the replicas no longer posed a danger.

The verdict, which affects many serious criminal investigations, has led to many discussions. There has been criticism from several quarters because the police will not be able to exchange weapons and drugs to the same extent as before.

– The method can be used, the difference is that the person handling a dummy must have known that the real weapon was there, says Ninmar Poli, defender.
