Senegal: opposition leader Ousmane Sonko sentenced to 2 years in prison for youth corruption

The judgment in the case of Ousmane Sonko / Adji Sarr on June 1, 2023 at the Criminal Chamber of Dakar: the opponent is sentenced to two years in prison for corruption of youth. His trial was held in his absence on 23 May. He had not appeared at the Dakar courthouse. The prosecutor's office had requested ten years in prison for rape or 5 years in prison for the offense of "corruption of youth". Since the beginning of this long procedure in February 2021, Ousmane Sonko has always denounced a "plot" to remove him from the presidential election scheduled for February 2024.An imposing security device has been deployed in the Senegalese capital.
