• Politics Macarena Olona registers a political party to compete in the elections of 23-J
  • 28-M Vox triples its councilors and is consecrated as inescapable in all regions

The journey of Macarena Olona again has political overtones, although far from the acronym of Vox. "Politics is back in my life. We'll see how far." The State lawyer plans to stand in the general elections on July 23 under the acronym of a party that she has founded and that bears the name Walking Together, of "transversal" cut and that, among other points, defends the celebration of a referendum so that the Spaniards decide on the form of State, whether monarchy or republic.

The formation was registered this week in the Ministry of the Interior, but the lawyer of the State keeps since then a studied silence that broke this Thursday in an interview on the channel 24 hours of RTVE in which he shelled some details, such as that he will attend the elections as head of the list for Granada, as promised.

In addition, the party will not have a presence in all the provinces, but will only be constituted and form lists in those regions where it can truly "have a chance" and the voters do not "throw away the vote" if it finally does not get representation. In any case, he did not mention any other territory for the moment beyond Grenada.

What he did detail is part of the positioning of his party: "transversal, of marked social character", Olona repeated to define where he places his new brand on the ideological board, which more than center seeks to be a force that walks "with both feet, with the right and with the left", fleeing from radicalism and polarization: "Walking Together is not in the one that Txapote votes for you", but in "if Spain comes out afloat".

Olona's commitment since he resumed his public agenda last September was not to present himself to the elections last weekend, but he always left his participation in the generals in the air. The hasty advance by Pedro Sánchez on Monday forced Olona's team to accelerate the deadlines to reach the times required by the Electoral Board for the presentation of parties and their respective lists.

However, the State lawyer acknowledged that she responds well "under pressure and to the limit", as in this case, and acknowledged while explaining part of the ideology of her party its 180-degree turn in recent months: "It is evident that I have changed. If I had wanted everything to remain the same, I would continue in Vox, "he said about his previous party, which he says he felt that he was treated as "a family" while he was part of it, but that he had a "traumatic" exit in which he was persecuted as if it were "a sect".

In Vox, meanwhile, they dodge the issue and minimize the options of Olona's plan. "Everyone has the right to present themselves," said the parliamentary spokesman of Vox, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, who wished luck to his former party partner but considered that the appearance of Walking Together will not affect Vox at all.
