• Tele Kim Cattrall will return as Samantha Jones in the second season of 'And Just Like That'

22 days before the premiere of the second season of And Just Like That, the sequel to Sex and the City, fans of the series have received the most surprising news of all. After Kim Cattrall (66) – who played Samantha Jones – swore and perjured that she "would not shoot anything again" alongside Sarah Jessica Parker (58), Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, Page Six (and other media) confirmed that the actress returns to the franchise.

In 2022, writer Michael Patrick King commented that the second season "included Samantha in its storyline". Although he did not reveal how he planned to do it... Until now. According to The New York Post, Cattrall secretly filmed a scene in March. However, Kim has not said a single word about it. A situation that, according to thousands of Internet users, would have to do with the shame of breaking his promise.

During the broadcast of the second season of Sex and the City, in 1999, rumors began that Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker did not get along. In the first instance, it was rumored that his had to do with issues of money and salaries. But, according to Cattrall herself, it was simply a chemistry thing. Moreover, the actress even said that she did not frequent her companions, because "they were not friends, only actresses who work together."

Seven years later, it was confirmed that Cattrall was not interested in the script for the first film. However, he ended up accepting the project, but not without drama in between. Moreover, after filming, various reports indicated that the artist had decided to cut relations with Parker. But the year Sex and The City 2 was released, Kim herself took it upon herself to say that she had nothing against her partner, that they were inventions of the press.

But in 2017, Cattrall began to embrace the truth. She wasn't interested in working with those she didn't feel comfortable with again, and for the first time, she said "no" to the franchise. "Sex and The City 3 will not be filmed, due to Kim Cattrall's demands," the Daily Mail reported that year, as well as reporting that the celeb asked Warner Bros. to "produce other films she had in mind," in exchange for her participation. But the study refused.

Despite this, Cattrall had another version of events. "I turned down the project in 2016 and the response was, simply, 'thank you, but no, I'm fine as I am.' It's not about more money or the demand for more scenes. It's a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to finish one chapter and start another," he said in October 2017, as Sarah Jessica desperately tried to pretend nothing was happening.

Since then, the current protagonist of How I Met Your Father did not stop attacking Parker. For example, he said she was not a kind person, called her a hypocrite and even accused her of trying to figure in the wake of her brother's death. On the other hand, in 2019, he also made curious statements, in which he implied that he did not want to get involved with the franchise, because he wanted projects that "empowered" it. "I think people expect strong characters from me," he told Entertainment Tonight.

Months later, Cattrall again swore that she was not willing to work with her former colleagues. "I don't want to put myself in a situation, even an hour, where I don't feel like I'm enjoying myself," he told the Guardian. An attitude he maintained in 2020, when he told the Los Angeles Times that he had "no regrets" about everything he has said about Parker: "googlélo. I have said what I feel and I have no regrets."

In 2021, HBO announced the filming of And Just Like That, without Kim Cattrall. According to the star, she learned of the project's confirmation via Twitter. But, according to endless reports, Sarah Jessica did offer him to participate on numerous occasions. However, he was always met with negative and bad words. Something that, the complicated actress ended up acknowledging. "The first script had a heartbreaking narrative for Samantha and I think it deserved better direction," he told E!.

Finally, the worst of Cattrall's statements – his fifth refusal – came when the broadcast of the first season of the series ended. "It is wise to know when enough is enough. And I didn't want to commit to that either. I better miss it... There is no chance of him coming back. It's a 'no' and it's powerful to say it," he told Variety in May of last year. Parker then claimed that Cattrall was not invited.

But fate is capricious and it seems that today both have rectified their words.
