CSN estimates that approximately 90 extra administrators are needed to be able to handle all applications within a reasonable time. But in the spring amending budget that the government presented in April, CSN did not receive any SEK 50 million. Nor has the authority received any support for its demand for a simplified regulatory framework.

Returns two billion SEK in 2024

With current resources and an unchanged regulatory framework, SEK 600 million of the appropriation for 2023 is expected to need to be returned. For 2024, the sum is even higher, two billion of the total appropriation of SEK 2.84 billion can go back to the state treasury.

The adjustment support was introduced last autumn, and is aimed at those aged between 27 and 62 who are relatively established in the labour market but who may want to further their education or change careers.

In the video, Stefan Tärnhuvud, press secretary at CSN, talks about the tough situation within the agency and the reactions they encounter.
