The fielding social workers see an increase in criminals' recruitment of young people. The increase becomes even clearer when summer comes and children and young people are out in a different way than during the winter months, says Linda Lindgren, team leader for the field group.

"When it gets hot, everyone comes out and then the problems can increase. The fact that very young people are recruited is unique and has increased throughout the city, but it is not unique to certain areas, she explains.

Erik Reidemar, who is one of the so-called "fielders" in the municipality, hopes that the parents will take on board the information they convey at the meetings.

"When we professionals, in social services and in the police, talk about a concern, we want it to be taken seriously. We really want to reach out to parents," he says.

The reactions to the parents' meetings are positive, but many are also surprised by the reality, Reidemar says. Furthermore, he believes that warning signs to look out for in their children include high school absenteeism and if the child comes home with new and expensive gadgets.

Listen to the fielders talk about why the parent meeting is held at some schools and about what the criminals lure the children with in the clip above.
