The accident occurred at half past nine o'clock on Wednesday morning and many circumstances remain unclear.
According to the emergency services, the boy was somehow stuck between a grille and the elevator door. The emergency services were alerted to the scene and began rescue work.
"During our operation, the boy falls five floors down into the elevator shaft. The firefighters performed CPR directly on site before the boy was taken by ambulance to Sahlgrenska.
According to Sahlgrenska's press office, the boy is being treated with serious injuries.

He cannot answer exactly how the accident could have happened. The incident will now be investigated and a report to the Swedish Work Environment Authority has been made.
"The staff are shocked after the incident report. Therefore, we have little to go on so far, he says.
