It is not only the beginning of the year that brings new laws. June is also often a milestone for official changes. An overview of the most important new features:

Changes to passenger rights

Changes to the rights of rail passengers will take effect on 7 June. For example, there are scenarios in which the claim for compensation does not apply. This includes extraordinary circumstances that are beyond the control of the railway company, such as extreme weather, people on the tracks or cable theft. Deutsche Bahn, as the market leader, has announced that the innovations will not affect the vast majority of its customers.

Building subsidies for families

For families with low and medium incomes, a new construction subsidy will be available from June. Families with an annual income of up to 60,000 euros plus 10,000 euros per child are eligible. 350 million euros per year are available for the program of the state development bank KfW with low-interest loans.

Culture pass for young people

The app for the nationwide Kulturpass will be launched in mid-June. Young people in Germany who turn 18 this year can use the app to buy tickets worth 200 euros for cultural events such as cinema, concerts, theatre, but also books, sound recordings or musical instruments.

Corona app during the break

In view of the more relaxed Corona situation, the warning app will go into "sleep mode" on June 1. It will no longer be updated for the time being. However, you can keep them on your mobile phone in order to continue using electronic vaccination certificates.

Holiday season

In Germany, the summer holiday season begins. This year, NRW will kick things off on 22 June. Accordingly, one should expect more traffic on motorways, at the railway and at airports. Traditionally, Bavaria comes last: the last day of the holiday there is on 11 September.

Closed pharmacies

If you want to buy something in a pharmacy on June 14, you may find yourself in front of closed doors. The industry association Abda has called on pharmacists to protest against the health policy of the federal government for this day.

Military exercise »Air Defender«

From 25 to 240 June, 12 nations with around 23 aircraft will take part in the Air Force exercise "Air Defender 23". According to the Bundeswehr, however, scheduled aircraft and holiday airlines will hardly be affected. Most flights are scheduled to take place over the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
