The father of a 13-year-old student enrolled in a high school in Porreres, in Mallorca, has denounced the board of directors of the center and a teacher for distributing in a class of 1º of ESO of Spanish Language a comic with lesbian sexual content.
Specifically, as explained this morning by the complainants in front of the Courts of Palma, the book used to teach graphically and explicitly reproduces sexual relations between a 15-year-old girl and a woman. The complainants consider it distribution of pornography among minors and a possible crime of sexual provocation, according to their complaint.
"It is wrong for 13-year-old children, my soul fell at my feet," the father told the media.
The complaint was filed this Wednesday before the courts of Palma through the association Christian Lawyers. The writing includes how the comic reflects "images of explicit sex and the most intimate parts of the women protagonists of the comic."
The Book of Discord is a French graphic novel titled 'Blue is a warm color', written by Julie Maroh and published in 2010. It addresses issues such as the acceptance and development of one's sexuality. In France he was awarded the audience prize at the Angoulême International Comic Festival in 2011.
Prior to the filing of the complaint, the father has told journalists that the book is "pornography" with "intimate images."
"We talk about cunnilingus, licking nipples or masturbating," said the parent of the underage student, who explained that the teacher justified the use of the comic in class as pedagogical support because "they had instructions to give it."
In addition, asked about the response of the center to the complaints presented, he pointed out that the director sent an email to the coordinator of Coeducation, who replied in a "very irrational" way.
In this sense, according to the complainant, the coordinator would have assured him that the current LGTBI laws oblige him to teach this kind of material.
"This is pornography," insisted the father, who has also criticized the alleged justification of the coordinator that it is a "very healthy" book. "Healthy has nothing, there are also images of people smoking, drugs, alcohol," and even "the protagonist herself dies" for it.
He has also criticized the "lies" that appear in the comic. "The girl says she's going to a sleepover and she's going to have sex. They are not even a couple, because the woman has a stable relationship with another woman, "said the complainant before the media, which had been summoned by the authors of the complaint.
The spokesman for the Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers, Norberto Domínguez, has assured that he is aware that the comic is still used in other classes of the institute.
Therefore, they will request the suspension of its distribution and claim before the Balearic Department of Educational Inspection the suspension of the teacher who "indoctrinates minors with pornography", as he said.
The Government responds
Likewise, the spokesman has appealed to politicians, "now that there has been a political turnaround" that precedes the imminent change of government (the PSOE has been governing since 2015 but will be predictably relieved by the PP), hoping that the next Government "act firmly in the indoctrination in the classrooms".
From the Balearic Government they have communicated that the Balearic Educational Inspection will meet with the center and check if the book complies with current regulations. In addition, sources of the Ministry of Education consulted by this newspaper have indicated that, within this regulatory framework, schools "have autonomy" to decide their pedagogical material.
