For just over ten months, starting in the summer of 2020, the woman embezzled the store. She accounted for the daily cash on paper, but did not physically send in the cash on time.

Instead, she took some of the cash – and to cover the trail, she took money out of newer bags to replenish the older ones as she went along.

Needed to pay gambling debts

With this method, the store manager embezzled a total of SEK 313,162. She has confessed to the crime and given the explanation that gambling debts were the reason she took the money.

"XX is surprised that it took so long for anyone to discover," the police said in questioning the woman.

Low risk of recidivism

The district court has decided that the sentence should stop at a suspended sentence for aggravated embezzlement. This is because the probation service has assessed the risk of recidivism as low and that the woman is considered to live in orderly conditions.

The woman must repay the embezzled amount to the company and SEK 800 to the Crime Victim Fund.
