When Storviksbadet was closed down a couple of years ago, Mariam Andersson Klint and several other Storvik residents protested. The bath was eventually saved – but not by the municipality. Instead, it was the Göransson foundations that contributed SEK 20 million and saved the bath.

Mariam Andersson Klint is very grateful that the Göransson Foundations saved Storviksbadet, but critical of the society that she believes should have taken responsibility.

"Sad"

"It's a very sad development. One cannot believe that this is true in the so-called welfare society Sweden. Everything you take from the children will cost society much later," she says.

Being able to swim in the summer risks becoming a class issue, she says.

"Many families don't have a car and can't afford to travel long distances by bus to swim with their children. Then many children remain in their home town without the opportunity to be able to bathe during their childhood. It's sad.
