  • Interview Macarena Olona: "I know I could be used to make Vox disappear, but I don't want to do harm"

The lawyer of the State and former leader of Vox Macarena Olona has registered this Wednesday a political party, Walking Together, to attend the general elections on July 23.

Olona has published this Wednesday in his social networks an image in the registry office of the Ministry of the Interior, where he has formalized the procedures to register a new political formation with the aim of presenting himself to the general elections of the month of July, advanced by surprise by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, After the electoral debacle harvested by the Socialists last weekend.

Olona, who broke with the direction of Vox last summer, ruled out at all times to present himself to the municipal and regional elections with a new brand, but kept in the air his participation in the face of the generals. The haste of the electoral advance has accelerated the registration deadlines and the State lawyer has made public this Wednesday that she decides to take the step.

"I am very clear that I am here to serve the Spaniards and that I will be wherever they want," Olona confessed last November in an interview with EL MUNDO in which he detailed that he did not take the step at the moment so as not to "further fragment" the political scenario in our country. "That's why I haven't accepted funding to form a party right now. And I do it by having very authoritative voices. What did they think? The opposite, but I have the intimate conviction that right now is not the time to fragment the vote, "he explained.

Now, however, Olona believes it is time to bring his political plan to life. The news comes just 24 hours after Ciudadanos definitively renounced to attend the appointment of 23-J and in the middle of the urgent negotiation process in the alternative left to assemble the maximum possible forces in Sumar, the platform of Vice President Yolanda Díaz.

Hardly any data or details of Walking Together have transcended. Olona herself has shared what looks like the emblem of the formation: two high-heeled shoes, the left red and the right blue, in a walking position, in motion. "Walking with the left foot and with the right", can be read as a motto. This is one of the phrases most repeated by Olona herself in recent months.
