Tomas Johansson is the wrestler from little Haparanda who became world famous when, after being suspended for doping, he took revenge and became both world champion and Olympic medalist.

The wrestling career the former world champion has left behind a long time ago. Now the focus is on children.

"I was lively myself as a child. It was lucky that I started wrestling, because then I didn't have the energy to do stupid things in town, says Tomas Johansson.

"Everyone has something that they are good at"

When SVT Norrbotten meets him, he visits Ungdomens hus in Haparanda together with a group of primary school children. For many years, he has worked as a resource support in the municipality's schools.

"Many children have a hard time today, but I usually say that everyone has something that they are good at. And if you are not good at school, you can grow by becoming good at something else and then it goes better in school later, he says.

Want you to make up on the carpet

In his role as a wrestling coach in Haparanda, he has also guided many young people into the world of sports.

"In the sport there are rules. You make up on the wrestling mat or the football field and then you become friends with each other, says Tomas Johansson.
