"We have a huge deficit that we need to bring home," says Mona Glans, traffic director at Region Blekinge.

The traffic committee in Region Blekinge, with responsibility for public transport in the county, is losing almost SEK 30 million after the first four months of the year.

The politicians on the committee have therefore decided, among other things, that 80 bus services will be removed from the autumn timetable – something that would save three million kronor. Sydöstran was the first to tell the story.

Fuel price the reason for the deficit

When SVT meets traffic director Mona Glans, she says that it is not clear which tours will be removed, but that it will be divided between urban and rural areas in all five municipalities in the county.

"We're in that planning right now. The reason for the deficit is mainly fuel prices, which is a very big difference from what it has been in the past.
