  • Events Hospitalized an elderly woman injured after being assaulted and robbed by a young man in the neighborhood of Batán

A 45-year-old woman ended up in the Gómez Ulla Hospital with multiple injuries and a traumatic brain injury, after suffering a violent robbery on May 11 in the subway of Sanchorreja Street in the Madrid district of Latina. The thief made her the key to the mataleón grabbing her behind the neck to try to knock her unconscious. When he could not, he threw it several times against the wall until he managed to snatch her purse, when she was on her way home at 20.30 p.m. This robbery adds another series of assaults that do not stop during the month of May in the area of the underpasses of Batán and the Paseo de Extremadura.

As a result of these assaults, the National Police has deployed a special device in the Madrid neighborhood of Batán. Plainclothes agents participate in the operation to try to arrest the perpetrators of these violent robberies that women always suffer.

In the case of the assault on May 11, the woman suffered head trauma with a gap, bruises on the face and arm and blows all over the body, according to the medical report. She was treated by the Samur and taken to the hospital.

The victim indicated in the subsequent complaint to the police that he could not see the author's face. He only saw that he was wearing a dark gray sweatshirt and could not provide more information. However, one man noticed the author during his escape. He told the agents that he was a young man of approximately 18-20 years, 160-165 centimeters tall, with a dark complexion, strong build and curly dark hair.

The husband of the assaulted woman noted with concern to his relatives that the perpetrator of the robbery used a lot of violence against his wife. "It's been very beastly theft. The devices that are mounted are not enough, people are very afraid and one day something very serious will happen, "said the man, who on social networks called for more police on foot in the neighborhood. "Criminals have discovered a reef in this area. What is needed is police going through all the nooks and crannies of the neighborhood and crossing the tunnels. And cameras in the tunnels would not hurt, although the ideal would be to bury the A-5 at once, "said yesterday another neighbor in the area. In the neighborhood of Batán they also say that last week an elderly couple suffered another robbery and that the man ended up with a broken shoulder on El Greco Street, an extreme that the National Police has not been able to confirm. In addition, they also assaulted the pharmacy on Rueza Street at night.

Last January, the National Police established a static surveillance device 24 hours a day in the Batán metro, given the increase in violent crimes committed by minors under guardianship of Maghrebi origin. That same month, before the arrival of minors from other centers in Madrid and former wards to the Casa de Campo, the Superior Police Headquarters reinforced that device with cavalry units and UPR.

Now this May, before the wave of crimes in the neighborhood, with more incidence in the subways of Batán, allegedly committed by young people, the Police has established a second device simultaneously to tackle this problem. Many of the crimes happen near the tunnels, most at noon, taking advantage of older women returning home after shopping.
