Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2022 - 202305h33, May 31, 2023

[An unpublished testimony at the microphone of Jacques Vendroux for Europe 1] At twelve, Yannick Noah reluctantly abandons his family and his roots in Africa to pursue his dreams. Inspired by his meeting with the African-American tennis player Arthur Ashe, he joined the Tennis-Studies section of the Parc Impérial high school in Nice. He arrives alone, with his heavy suitcase, the reality is brutal. Between the distance from his loved ones and the hazing that his boarding schoolmates make him suffer, the first times in the heart of this training center are particularly difficult for Yannick Noah. But in parallel, his relationship with Patrice Beust, the director of Tennis-Etudes in whom he finds a "second father", and his first victories in competitions, which confirm his potential as a professional tennis player, push him to stay the course... In episode 3 of "Yannick Noah, between you and me", Yannick Noah recalls the suffering of exile during his youth years in Nice.

For the 40th anniversary of Yannick Noah's victory at Roland-Garros, Europe 1, official radio of the tournament, went to Cameroon to meet the legend of French tennis. He agreed to confide as never before about his childhood dreams, his memories of champion and his new life in Africa during an exceptional interview at the microphone of Jacques Vendroux.
