For many, the student means an endless freedom with thousands of choices. But this is not the case for high school students with intellectual disabilities. They are limited to the job that the municipality can arrange for them.
After graduation, according to the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled People, LSS, students will get an adapted job that they are interested in. Far from everyone gets it, and in Norrköping many are without employment when the student is only weeks away.
"Planned error"
Usually this would have been clear several months ago. Now, instead, an urgent job solution awaits some – some are still without a place.
"We are very sorry for this and are sincerely sorry that this has happened. We have simply planned too slowly and wrongly, says Malin Engström, head of public authority at Norrköping municipality.
