A few days ago it jumped to the media that Ryanair had demanded two passengers flying from Mallorca with a typical ensaimada of the island to pay 45 euros to check the ensaimadas and upload them to the plane, since they considered that it was a luggage apart from their hand luggage. When they refused, they had to leave the ensaimadas at the airport.

Now, international media such as 'The Guardian' publish that the government of the Balearic Islands has convened a meeting with Ryanair and local pastry chefs, who consider that this measure especially harms them, since travelers can easily board the plane the ensaimadas they buy at the duty free airport.

Iago Negueruela, Minister of Tourism of the Balearic Islands, explained that the meeting aims to "defend the local product and avoid any type of discrimination", collects 'The Guardian'. For his part, Pep Magraner, president of the association of pastry chefs of the Balearic Islands, stressed that this payment is only required by Ryanair, and not other airlines.
