The Attorney General of the State Álvaro García Ortiz has convened a Fiscal Council for next June 8 with the intention of making several discretionary appointments of the fiscal dome, including the prosecutor of the Democratic Memory Room, a place to which the former Minister of Justice, Dolores Delgado, aspires, before the Government of Pedro Sánchez becomes in office.

According to tax sources reported to EL MUNDO, the fixing of the aforementioned Fiscal Council yesterday caught by surprise the members of this body who had already been informed of the holding of another meeting of the Council scheduled for next June 19. The counselors were summoned yesterday to this new meeting, where the only point on the agenda is the aforementioned discretionary contest, after President Sánchez announced the electoral advance.

The mere surprise call of the Fiscal Council generated both surprise and discomfort among multiple counselors who make up the body and who consider that García Ortiz's "maneuver" involves appointing Delgado as prosecutor of Democratic Memory before he is dismissed as attorney general with the socialist government after the general elections of July 23.

The Attorney-General submits his nomination proposal to the Government, with the Council of Ministers taking the final decision. However, within the prosecutorial career and political spheres it is an open secret that Delgado has been moving for years to be appointed prosecutor of Democratic Memory.

García Ortiz already promoted her to the highest category of the Prosecutorial Career, as prosecutor of the Togada Chamber, as soon as her successor in the position was named. If now, as is foreseeable, decide to propose her for prosecutor of the Chamber of Democratic Memory, the appointment will not be peaceful.

Along with Delgado, prosecutors Juan Carlparsoro, Luis Ibáñez Cuesta and Carlos Castresana aspire to that position.
