Seoul, May 5 (ZXS) -- On 30 May local time, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of China, Japan and the ROK on the Establishment of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat", the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (hereinafter referred to as the "Secretariat") held a celebration of the "TCS Day" celebration at Cheonggyeong Square in Seoul.

At the opening ceremony, Kang Young-sin, Deliberation Officer of the Northeast Asia Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Fang Kun, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, and Minister Yamamoto of the Japanese Embassy in South Korea, delivered congratulatory speeches respectively, and Shin Bong-gil, the first Secretary-General of the Secretariat, also attended the event.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary-General of the Secretariat Bai Van Qin said that over the years, the three countries have been committed to establishing cooperation organizations and intergovernmental consultation mechanisms. Looking ahead, the Secretariat will spare no effort to promote lasting peace, universal prosperity and a common culture in the region, and deepen cooperation among the three countries in various fields.

Subsequently, Deputy Secretary-General of the Secretariat, Natsuko Sakata, and guests from the three countries jointly revealed the name of the Secretariat's mascot, the Crested Ibis. The crested ibis is a bird that symbolizes cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea, and is a symbol of friendship that maintains the positive momentum of promoting cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea. A few days ago, the Secretariat launched a mascot naming collection activity for the people of the three countries, which was enthusiastically participated by the people of China, Japan and South Korea. The mascot's English name "Tribi", Chinese nickname "Ibis", Japanese nickname "トッキー" and Korean nickname "??" were finally determined, which symbolized peace and cooperation among the three countries.

The 2023 China-Japan-Korea Spirit Annual Chinese Character "Hehe" Calligraphy Performance, China-Japan-Korea Song and Dance Performance, etc. were also held at the event site. In addition, a photo exhibition was held at the event site, showcasing the historical process of trilateral cooperation and the highlights of the "East Asian Cultural Capital" China, Japan and South Korea media and online celebrity walk held in April.

A number of booths were set up at the event site, introducing important projects and publications of the Secretariat such as the China-Japan-Korea Youth Exchange Network, the China-Japan-Korea Data Port, and the China-Japan-Korea Common Chinese Character Dictionary. This event is of great significance for the public to understand the culture, economy and youth exchanges of the three countries.
