The 18-year-old and the victim had previously disagreed about something and the argument flared up again during the party. The now convicted man strangled the victim's neck and stabbed him in the back with a knife. The 18-year-old then stabbed the victim several times in the stomach. The victim reportedly felt his intestines protrude and suffered life-threatening injuries from the incident.

The 18-year-old says in interrogation that he had not intended to kill the victim. Several people allegedly tried to intervene, one of whom received a deep cut in his hand.

For the stab wounds in the stomach and the cut on the hand, of the person who intervened, the 18-year-old man is sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He is also convicted of aggravated assault on another occasion, as well as minor drug offenses.
