SVT has previously reported on the missing statue of the goddess Venus Capua after Gothenburg's real estate company Higab issued a search warrant.

The last trace of the goddess is found in a journal film from 1916 and since then no one has seen the statue in Gothenburg. Higab has been searching for the missing artwork on and off for just over a year.

"We previously received a hot tip from Halmstad, but it has not yielded any results so far," says Martin Lysell.

Support at Sahlgrenska

During the 1800s, the artwork stood in the courtyard of Sahlgrenska Huset. Now the house will be renovated and the ambition is to get the statue back to its former place.

"In a way, it's a cultural-historical part of this property that it would have been great to get back here," he says

Tips from the audience

The original of Venus Capua is in the Archaeological Museum in Naples and the lost Gothenburg statue is a copy. And after SVT's latest feature, a viewer has contacted him with a tip after he saw a similar statue while he was in Germany. Martin Lysell says that he feels that they have received positive reactions after the search.

"I can imagine that there is something that feels a little mysterious about what has happened to this statue that it is something that triggers and makes people curious," says Martin Lysell.

Is there a risk that the statue is destroyed?

"We don't know. There is a risk, but if that is the case, it is still interesting to find out or whether it still exists somewhere.

In the clip, the tip from SVT's viewers is handed over to Martin Lysell.
