Two buildings reportedly suffered minor damage and two people sought medical care after the incident, according to the city's mayor Sergei Sobyan. However, they should not be seriously injured.

The houses, at least one of which is an apartment block, were evacuated in connection with the rescue service's work at the scene.

"It's like a motorcycle came and then two bangs were heard. It began to smell kerosene. We live on the fourth floor and felt like something heavy hit the building," a woman who lives in the house told Russian news channel Shot.

Military: Shot down everyone

The Russian Defense Ministry writes on Telegram that a total of eight drones were sent towards the capital, but that all were shot down.

"Three of them were knocked out electronically, lost control and deviated from their intended targets," they write.

The agency blames the alleged attack on Ukraine, which has not yet commented on the incident.

Kremlin damaged by drones

In early May, the Russian military claimed to have repelled two drone strikes on the Kremlin in central Moscow, described by them as an "assassination attempt" on President Putin.

Pictures from the scene, which SVT Nyheter has partially verified, showed explosions over the site.

It is still unclear who was behind the incident. Ukraine has denied any involvement.
