Valery Zorkin, chairman of Russia's Constitutional Court, has brought a map from the 1600s to a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zorkin says they have managed to find the map, which is claimed to be clear historical proof that the country of Ukraine did not previously exist.

Pictures and clips from Putin's map demonstration have been shared by the Kremlin since this week, and have been widely circulated on social media.
