• Live follow the 29-M elections live

The massive participation to which the PP has clung in recent weeks is on its way to becoming a reality in the Community of Madrid. Because, in the first advance of participation, that of the 13 hours, the figures show 29.16% of voters who have gone to the polls, which is two and a half points more than that registered on May 4, 2021 when the record participation was marked at the end of the day.

That percentage, close to 30%, also represents an increase of 4.5 points compared to the last time regional and municipal elections coincided in the region, in May 2019. In the case of the capital, the participation is even slightly above the average set in the community with 29.33%.

However, the highest rates are registered in a key area, which may mark the future of these elections, the red belt of the south of the region. A terrain traditionally dominated by the left but where the regional president, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, dominated in 2021. In principle, this high participation again benefits the interests of the popular leader.

There are two municipalities in the southern belt, where the surveys showed more equality, which at 13 pm were already above 30%: Leganés (30.02%) and Alcorcón (31.04%). The rates are also above average in Móstoles (29.89%), Getafe: (29.94%) and, in the east, in Alcalá de Henares (29.45%).

Different cases occur in Fuenlabrada (29%), Leganés (30.02%), Torrejón de Ardoz: (28.86%) or Parla (26.94%).
