Tokyo, 5 May (ZXS) -- Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao recently visited Nagano Prefecture and met with Nagano Prefectural Governor Shouichi Abe, Nagano Prefectural Assembly Speaker Shoji Sasaki, and representatives of the Japan-China Friendship Alliance of the Prefectural Assembly to exchange views on improving and developing Sino-Japanese relations. Masashi Nishibori, vice president of the Nagano Prefecture Japan-China Friendship Association, and Zhang Yibo, counselor of the embassy, attended the meeting.

Wu Jianghao said that Nagano County has deep historical ties with China, close exchanges and ties, and fruitful cooperation, and has always stood in the forefront of friendship with China. Ice and snow sports and the Winter Olympic Games are important ties of friendship between the two sides. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the conclusion of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and the two sides should follow the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen local and people-to-people exchanges, and promote the construction of China-Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era. It is hoped that Nagano Prefecture will continue to carry forward the tradition of friendship with China, further expand exchanges and cooperation, enhance mutual understanding among the people, and make new contributions to the improvement and development of China-Japan relations.

Wu Jianghao said that the Chinese Embassy in Japan will actively support Nagano Prefecture in strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China: welcome Governor Abe to lead a delegation to visit China and jointly commemorate the 40th anniversary of the friendship between Nagano Prefecture and Hebei Province; Invite Governor Abe, Speaker Sasaki and friends from all walks of life to visit the embassy and hold the "Nagano-China Friendship Exchange Meeting"; Inviting a delegation of Nagano university students to visit China; Support Nagano Prefecture's tourism promotion to China; Provide Nagano Prefecture with all aspects including visas for people going to China.

Governor Abe welcomed Ambassador Go's choice of Nagano Prefecture as the first destination to visit after his arrival, and said that Nagano Prefecture has always attached importance to exchanges with China and established extensive cooperative relations with China. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the friendship province between Nagano County and Hebei Province, and we are willing to grasp the positive changes in epidemic prevention and control with China, make full use of the foundation of cooperation between the Winter Olympics and ice and snow sports, strengthen people-to-people and sister-city exchanges with China, deepen mutual benefit and win-win results in green, low-carbon, pension and medical care, and promote greater development of Nagano's friendly relations with China.

Speaker Sasaki and representatives of the IPU recalled the origins of their own and his family's exchanges with China, and expressed their expectation that more Chinese tourists will visit Nagano in the post-epidemic era to enjoy ice and snow sports and beautiful nature, and are willing to vigorously carry out exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields such as culture, sports, economy and trade, and political parties under the new situation, innovate cooperation methods, promote people-to-people bonds, and achieve common development.
