– 80 percent of those who responded to our boating survey are positive to the ban on emptying latrine waste into the water, but it is still too difficult to leave the waste ashore, says Lina Petersson, expert boat environment at the Swedish Transport Agency.

Non-toxic antifouling paint
The Swedish Transport Agency believes that it is best if you do not paint your boat bottom with toxic paint.
"Even antifouling paint that is approved can contain toxins. It is great if you use a non-toxic paint and can scrub the boat during the season. There is a barnacle warning that you can sign up for. Then you get a message that tells you when the barnacles are active where you are. Then it may be enough to scrub with a regular sponge.
