Tomorrow, more than 35 million people are called to the polls to elect their mayors throughout Spain, while for the regional elections, the census is reduced to just over 17 million.

For the municipalities, there are exactly 35,000,074 Spaniards and 414,581 foreigners who will be able to exercise their right to vote. On the other hand, there are 17,335,748 registered (more than one million residents outside Spain) for the regional ones (to renew the Assemblies of Ceuta and Melilla there are 115,421 registered).

A total of 1,812,761 people will be responsible for attending the 60,587 polling stations distributed throughout the country for the municipal and regional elections this Sunday, a task for which each of them will charge 70 euros as a diet, the same amount as in the last general elections.

As in every electoral process, the municipalities were in charge of choosing by lot the presidents and members who will have to attend the more than 60,000 tables that will be constituted in the 22,916 polling stations or premises that will be enabled to deposit the vote.

The Government ensures "total transparency and maximum guarantee" in the elections after the controversy over the purchase of votes

The Secretary of State for Communication, Francesc Vallès, has guaranteed this Saturday that the electoral elections of this Sunday, May 28, will take place with "total transparency, neutrality and normality" in full controversy over the alleged purchase of votes in Melilla, Mojácar and Albudeite (Murcia).

"Our electoral system is one of the safest and most secure in the world. Citizens tomorrow can go to vote with absolute tranquility, "said Vallès at a press conference offered this Saturday from the National Center for Data Dissemination accompanied by the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea.

In this regard, and avoiding making any kind of political assessment in the day of reflection in relation to this matter, the Secretary of State for Communication has called for calm to citizens insisting that it is the eleventh second time that Spaniards are called to the polls in an electoral process since democracy was established and that this Sunday will run "as always, with maximum normality."

Asked if he considers that the known cases of vote buying in Melilla can reduce participation in this autonomous city, Vallès has categorically denied it and has pointed out that citizens "will participate, as they have always done", reiterating that the system works "perfectly, identifies, detects and repairs possible irregularities".

Citizens go to the polls trying to achieve representation in all communities

Citizens will go to the polls tomorrow with the aim of achieving representation in the communities in which elections will be held and that the "center" is represented in Spain, also in the most relevant municipalities.

This party is aware of the "delicate" situation it is experiencing, especially in recent months, in which there have been casualties and leaks mainly to the Popular Party (PP). The last one, that of the former head of the delegation of Citizens in the European Parliament Luis Garicano, who was known in the middle of the campaign that will collaborate with the popular foundation.

Despite this, the party faced this new electoral appointment with "illusion" and above all with the message that it can be "decisive" in places such as the Region of Murcia, Asturias or Madrid. However, according to the surveys that have been published these days, the scenario is different and everything indicates that Ciudadanos will be left without representation in the parliaments of various communities.

The candidate of Cs to the Mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, has wished a "happy day of reflection" to the people of Madrid who are called to the polls tomorrow, stressing that "life is to unite and face challenges as a team".

Ortega Smith takes advantage of the day of reflection to visit museums in Madrid

The Vox candidate for Mayor of Madrid, Javier Ortega Smith, took advantage of the day of reflection this Saturday to visit those "precious" museums that this city has, starting with the National Museum of Decorative Arts.

Through a video of just over 30 seconds, Ortega Smith announced what his plan is for this day of reflection prior to the municipal and regional elections to be held tomorrow. In this audiovisual piece you can see him hand in hand with his wife, Paulina Sánchez del Río Nájera, at the entrance of the aforementioned museum.

For her part, the candidate for the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Rocío Monasterio, decided to spend the day "recovering time" with her children and telling them campaign anecdotes after two weeks touring different parts of this region.

Some 100,000 people with intellectual disabilities vote tomorrow: "It is a group motivated to political participation"

Around 100,000 people with intellectual disabilities are called to exercise their right to vote this Sunday in the municipal and regional elections, in which a high participation of this group is expected. "It is especially motivated to political participation," the president of Full Inclusion, Enrique Galván, told Europa Press.

After decades of struggle under the initiative 'My vote counts', the entities that are part of Full Inclusion managed to promote in Parliament the reform of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG) to allow people with intellectual disabilities in the country to vote.

The first elections with the participation of the collective were the general elections of April 28, 2019 and then they also exercised their right to vote in the repetition of them, in November of that same year, and also in the regional elections held in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Galicia, Basque Country, Catalonia, Castilla y León, Community of Madrid or Andalusia.

In the main formation of the opposition have seen "fulfilled all" their objectives for these days and "the disruptive elements that have entered" in the public agenda "have gone in their favor," PP sources tell Servimedia.

"The campaign has gone as planned" and "now it's time to wait for results", add from the direction to this agency. "We arrived at the top and the street is phenomenal," say leaders of the PP consulted.

"Moderate optimism", slip other popular sources collecting the Galician spirit of its leader, who this Friday directly predicted "a great result" in the set of municipalities and communities.

The PSOE arrives satisfied with its campaign and with the certainty that they will revalidate regional and local power

The PSOE arrives at the appointment with the polls of this 28-M "satisfied" of the electoral campaign that they have carried out these days and with the confidence that they will revalidate the vast majority of municipal and regional squares in which they currently govern.

Sources of the PSOE consulted these days by Servimedia, in the different federations believe that the campaign has achieved the mobilization of the socialist electorate and also of the progressive or left that, they recognize, need to avoid the sum in the parties of the right, a right that was already "very mobilized" since before the electoral campaign.

To that respond the calls for "mass" mobilization of recent days and the appeal to the sum of the votes in leftist parties, because in the socialist ranks they consider that "winning is governing."

Spain elects tomorrow 66,924 councilors, 216 island councilors and 736 regional deputies

Voters will elect this Sunday at the polls a total of 66,924 councilors, 736 regional deputies of twelve parliaments and 216 island councilors of the Canary and Balearic Islands, among other positions that depend on local elections. In total there will be up to six different ballot boxes, but at the tables a maximum of three or four can coincide in very specific places.

Although Spain has 8,131 municipalities, this Sunday there will be no elections in all of them because in 44 localities the process has been suspended because nobody showed up and has had to give an extra period to give a new opportunity to register lists and vote in six months.

In the remaining 8,087, 66,924 councilors will be elected (already discounting those of the municipalities that will have to wait six months) and 92 mayors will be appointed in small towns with an open council regime.

The Government enables an app and a website to follow the results of the municipal elections

The Government has launched a mobile application and a website to follow the live results of the municipal elections of this May 28, which this year will have as novelties a graph to know in real time the votes necessary to reach the last councilor in dispute or simulate possible pacts to form government.

The application, 28M Local Elections 2023, is available from this Friday on Android and iOS operating systems, while the website can be consulted from Sunday at link https://resultados.locales2023.es.

Both platforms will offer data on the constitution of polling stations, the progress of participation at 14:00 p.m. and 18:00 p.m., as well as the provisional results in the 8,228 municipalities, the island councils and the Assemblies of Ceuta and Melilla. Interior mobilizes 99,000 police throughout Spain and Melilla will have twice as many agents as Ceuta

Almost 99,000 agents of the State Security Forces and Bodies make up this Sunday "the largest security device in history" of an election, those of 28-M this Sunday, which in the case of Melilla has 594 agents, double the troops deployed in Ceuta.

The campaign of the local and regional elections has been marked in the final stretch by the different operations for alleged purchase of votes. Before the first operations with detainees in Melilla, Mojácar (Almería) or Albudeite (Murcia), which have been followed by other crossed complaints between political parties, the Ministry of the Interior reported that for all of Spain it will mobilize 7% more police on Sunday than in the local elections of 2019.

Specifically, the National Police will deploy a total of 30,638 agents, while in the Civil Guard will be 48,083. That's 6,610 more agents than four years ago.

For its part, the regional police forces will add 5,548 troops and, finally, the agents of the different municipal police forces will be 14,300. To all of them we must also add the 422 police deployed at IFEMA Madrid, where the National Data Dissemination Center will be established.
