During his visit to various European countries, the Chinese Special Representative met with Foreign Minister Lavrov and others in Russia and stressed that he would make steady efforts toward a political solution to the situation in Ukraine.
A leading U.S. newspaper reported that skepticism about China's mediated diplomacy has emerged, pointing out that the special representative has proposed an immediate ceasefire in other countries he visits while Russia has occupied Ukrainian territory.

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Chinese Special Representative Li Hui, who visited European countries, held talks with Foreign Minister Lavrov and others in Russia, his last country of visit, on May 26.

According to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Special Representative Li emphasized that "China will strengthen exchanges and dialogue with all parties, including Russia, and make steady efforts toward a political solution" regarding the situation in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement saying that it highly appreciated China's efforts in line with the documents calling for dialogue and ceasefire in a series of meetings with Russia, Ukraine and others.

On the other hand, the Wall Street Journal, a leading American newspaper, reported on the 26th that Western officials had proposed an immediate ceasefire in the countries that Russia visited before Russia, while Russia occupied Ukrainian territory.

Western officials have said that "peace will not be realized unless Russian troops withdraw from Ukraine," and there is skepticism about China's mediated diplomacy.
