The head of the department said this in an interview with the program "Vesti. Duty unit" on "Russia 24".

According to him, a few years ago, the number of cybercrimes grew "exponentially." The Minister stressed that in the total volume of crimes committed, the share of cybercrimes is almost a third, as a rule, these are thefts.

"I can confirm that we are doing everything in our power to overcome this misfortune. But here we will not be able to do without the participation of the public, without the participation of public figures, because prevention is very important. And only thanks to explanatory work, to explain to citizens how to respond to possible calls from intruders, proposals to indicate their credit card number, an offer to transfer money somewhere, we will not do, "Kolokoltsev said.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that explanatory work should be tried to be carried out with pensioners.

"They are much easier to succumb to all these tricks of intruders, often with a Ukrainian accent, because when we entered the Kherson, for example, region, there really functioned for several years entire call centers, where people came to work and were engaged in "work" to withdraw cash savings from our pensioners," he said.

At the end of March, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the number of registered cybercrimes in Russia for two months increased by 17.1% year-on-year.
