• War in Ukraine Vuhledar, the new Bajmut that survives on faith
  • Counteroffensive Ukraine's psychological offensive has already begun

Five days after the cross-border incursion in the Russian region of Belgorod, this Friday the Russian regions of Rostov and Krasnodar, bordering Ukraine, registered explosions tonight by an alleged Ukrainian attack with drones and missiles, one of which was shot down near a military airfield.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, a prominent ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said the war in Ukraine, now marking 456 days, could last for decades, with long periods of fighting interspersed with truces. "This conflict will last a long time, probably decades," he said.

The head of the Wagner Group, Yegueni Prigozhin, has begun the handover of the devastated city of Bakhmut to Russia after nine months of fierce battle, in which the leader of the mercenaries has lost 20,000 of his men. Prigozhin said he was waiting for new assignments. The withdrawal was confirmed by Kiev.

The President of Belarus hasannounced the beginning of the transfer of Russian tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of the former Soviet republic, which shares a border with Ukraine. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Moscow would retain control over those weapons and over the decision on their eventual use. The European Union (EU) said that this agreement between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko only benefits an escalation of tension.
