It was on April 13 last year that Herman Nilica, 23, met up with the then 19-year-old man in a parking garage in Karlshamn.

The man, who during his time in custody had reached the age of 20, was sentenced in Blekinge District Court to 15 years in prison for murder - after he shot Herman Nilica to death during a showdown in the parking garage.

It was all about a previous conflict between the men and, according to the prosecutor, Herman Nilica planned to rob the 20-year-old.

Was in a situation of self-defence

The 20-year-old has always admitted that he shot, but said it was self-defense.

The district court also ruled that the 20-year-old was in a situation of self-defence, but that the violence he used to protect himself was unjustifiable.

In Blekinge District Court, the man was sentenced to 15 years in prison – a sentence that the Court of Appeal now acquits him of.
