The two guests of the episode of "The Opposite Direction" (2023/5/23) exchanged mutual accusations in the context of their reading of the course of the Russian war on Ukraine, and the possibility of war between Russia and Europe immediately after the decision to provide Kiev with American aircraft and long-range European missiles.

Political science professor Nizar Bush downplayed the importance of the weapons provided by Western countries to Ukraine, arguing that these countries tried all kinds of weapons and could not turn the Russians back from their targets or drive them out of the territories he said they liberated from the "Nazi regime" in Ukraine.

Bush said that the Russians are advancing step by step with a cold mind and destroying the advanced Western machine, stressing that they have many weapons capable of turning Western planes into birds falling on Ukrainian soil and not Russian soil.

On the other hand, the editor-in-chief of Ukraine's Arabic-language website, Muhammad Farajallah, stressed that Russia has exhausted all its strength, and is unable to resolve the war and even control the city of Bakhamut in eastern Ukraine, saying that it only has some drones to take from Iran.

Farajallah added that Ukraine is today entering history with a Western weapons system, including the Patriot, German Leopard tanks and American F-16 aircraft, which he said will close Ukrainian skies to the Russians.

He said that the Russians have not been able to resolve the war despite Ukraine's modest capabilities, so how can they resolve it today with the F-16 stage and the long-range missiles that Western countries supply Kiev?

Russian Army Crosshairs

Asked whether Western capitals were in the crosshairs of the Russian military after the decision to provide Ukraine with U.S. aircraft and long-range European missiles, the political science professor responded by saying that the Russian doctrine is that if Russia is threatened or defeated, then the whole of Europe will be burned at all, but he pointed to what he considered the rationality of the Russians.

In turn, the editor-in-chief of Ukraine in Arabic claimed that Moscow has emerged from the club of the powerful, and is unable to attack NATO, especially in light of its expansion in the region, as the Baltic Sea has become the sea of this alliance, according to the guest.

According to Farajallah, Ukraine has proven to the West and Europe in particular that it is very important to them, stressing that Western countries now believe that breaking Russia in Ukraine will rebuild the new world order.

The political science professor replied that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a gift to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky during the Group of Seven leaders' summit when they met to supply Kiev with the F-16 system, and Putin's gift was to announce the "liberation" of Pakhmut, the spokesman said.

Donetsk's Pakhmut region has been in conflict for months, and earlier this week Moscow claimed full control of the heavily destroyed city of 70,<> people, and Zelenskiy quickly questioned the Russian narrative.

It is noteworthy that the administration of US President Joe Biden announced its approval to train Ukrainian pilots to fly American-made F-16 fighter jets, and that it will allow NATO member countries to provide Kiev with advanced American aircraft, and Zelensky described this step as historic.
