On May 14, the second round of elections of the head of the region was held in Gagauzia. The local CEC announced the victory of Eugenia Hutsul from the opposition Shor party with 52.34% of the vote.

After that, Chisinau initiated inspections in the Gagauz electoral commission, and on May 16, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Center came with searches to the office of the CEC of the autonomy and began to seize voter lists.

Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan questioned the possibility of interaction with the new leader of Gagauzia.
