- Cáceres Las Hurdes fire is out of control and heading to the Árrago Valley
The direction of the Special Plan for Civil Protection of Forest Fires of Extremadura (Infocaex) has ordered in the early hours of this Friday the preventive evacuation of the towns of Cadalso, Descargamaría and Robledillode Gata due to the complications of the fire declared in the municipality of Pinofranqueado, in the province of Cáceres.
The people of the evacuated populations, whose population would total approximately 550 people, have been rehoused in various municipal facilities in the town of Moraleja.
Already on Thursday night, the agency had ordered the preventive removal of the neighbors from the houses closest to the forest mass of Torrecilla de los Ángeles as a preventive measure, given the proximity of the fire.
It should be remembered that the fire in the municipality of Pinofranqueado, in the region of Las Hurdes, has worsened "remarkably" in the last hours, has been cataloged at level 2 of danger and the flames are already in the region of Sierra de Gata. And it is that the fire is still active and uncontrolled by the strong and varied gusts of wind and there are three roads cut: the CC-121 (Pinofranqueado - Sauceda), the CC-122 (Muela - Robledo) and the Ex-204 Pk 37.
The strong prevailing wind and the lack of visibility during this night have complicated during the work of extinguishing the fire. Nearly 200 troops are currently working on the ground.
The Árrago Valley has a very high tree density, mainly pines, and hosts a reserve of Black Vulture, so the arrival of fire in this extensive place would complicate much more the work of controlling the flames and would mean an even greater environmental disaster.
