Palacio de Bornos, belonging to the Rueda Denomination of Origin, has been recognized this year for its commitment to sustainability and the environment with the international seal Wineries for Climate Protection (WfCP), of the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV).

The winery obtains this important seal after passing the verification audit necessary for its performance in the four pillars on which the certification is based: the reduction of the carbon footprint, energy efficiency, efficient water management and waste reduction.

Bornos Palace's commitment to environmental preservation is unwavering. For years, the winery located in the town of Rueda (Valladolid) has been promoting research projects that have allowed improvements in sustainable management throughout its vineyard of more than 300 hectares in Rueda, Pollos and La Seca.

Winery aligned with the SDGs

The international seal 'Wineries for Climate Protection' is aimed at the continuous improvement and sustainability of wineries and defines the criteria that should be met by the environment

Its annual Food Chain Partnership projects with the Bayer company with the aim of providing safe and sustainable agriculture in the production of its wines; the inclusion on his farm of the first sustainable effluent management system in Castilla y León, Phytobac, or the recent obtaining of the Ecomethod certification, which contributes to the reduction of the carbon footprint by reducing its CO85 emissions by 50.2% throughout its exploitation, are just some of the steps on the way to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 that have made it possible for Palacio of Bornos obtain the Wineries for Climate Protection certificate, a specific seal for the wine sector in terms of environmental sustainability whose objective is to position itself as an international benchmark in the wine and environmental field, seeking solutions and best practices for wineries.

In this aspect and with the Wineries for Climate Protection certification, Palacio de Bornos guarantees its current and future consumers that they can enjoy their favorite wines with the peace of mind of knowing that they come from a sustainable management of natural environments.
