The Olympic Stadium houses a dozen polling stations, many voters are registered. Many of them have made the trip. Travel to fulfill their civic duty. We see many more people compared to this morning, when the offices opened.

The stadium is located in the commune of Tevragh Zeïna, it is the most important electoral district of Nouakchott, but also the most opulent, the richest. And since this morning, there are a lot of women voters, women are participating more and more in the political life of the country. There are also many young people, because the great novelty of this election is the establishment of a national list specially dedicated to young people under 35 and candidates for deputation.

Election offices opened late

In El Mina, a popular municipality in the capital, there is great interest in this type of election, despite notable hiccups. Some polling stations opened more than an hour or even two hours late. There are missing voter cards – in Mauritania, it is at the time of voting that you withdraw your voter card. The voting process is very slow, sometimes with twenty minutes between two voters.

It should be noted that there are irregularities that can be attributed this time to certain political parties. At the Olympic Stadium, several people approach you and tell you directly which party to vote for. Be that as it may, we hope here that the vote will take place peacefully; The climate is calm, and for now, participation seems important.
