Fuzhou, 5 May (ZXS) -- A series of activities of the China-Pacific People-to-People Friendship Forum continued to be held in Fujian on 13 May.

This trip to Fujian has a tight schedule and rich activities. More than 100 representatives from China and Pacific countries in various fields held discussions in Fuzhou on three topics: "targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization", "green development and marine economy" and "sister-city cooperation and people-to-people exchanges", and signed a memorandum of cooperation between China and Pacific island countries in terms of people-to-people friendship, local cooperation and academic exchanges.

Foreign guests will also visit Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Ningde, Pingtan and other places to experience Fujian's development achievements and docking cooperation.

In an interview with reporters, representatives of the China Friendship Association from a number of Pacific island countries said that they hope to cooperate pragmatically with China, learn from China's successful experience, transform bilateral friendly advantages into common development advantages, and promote win-win cooperation and common development between China and the Pacific region.

David Carter, honorary chairman of the New Zealand China Friendship Association, believes that in the future, China's cooperation with Pacific island countries should pay more attention to science and technology to improve people's living standards.

"We, the Pacific island nations, are gathered here to seek common ground while reserving differences, mutual respect and mutual understanding, in order to better plan for the future." David Carter said that every island nation in the Pacific has abundant natural resources, but generally lacks the corresponding technology, so it faces food shortages; China has developed rapidly in science and technology and is willing to share its technological progress with small countries. The two sides can carry out complementary cooperation in science and technology.

Wu Fangfang, President of the Fiji-China Friendship Association, learned about the practice of going to the party and countryside in Ningde City, which has been lifted out of poverty, and believes that this experience can also be applied to Fiji and other Pacific island countries.

"Poverty alleviation is a common problem facing the whole world, and from the example of the lower party, we see that the method can be applied in Fiji. The place where we live revolves around the ocean and there are many natural resources to take advantage of. Wu Fangfang said that she hopes that Fiji and Chinese universities will strengthen cooperation, build a bridge through people-to-people exchanges, and achieve win-win cooperation in the future.

Raoulil Malitoya Schmidt, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Samoa and Chairman of the Samoa-China Friendship Association, hopes to promote cooperation with China in aquaculture, plantation, etc., China can help Samoa in science and technology, machinery and other aspects, and Samoa has also opened flights to China to attract Chinese tourists to taste local food.

"We will continue to support the development of friendly relations with China." Schmidt said that Pacific island countries share a common vision and hope that China will develop better and better, continue to support the development of Pacific island countries, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
