Summer grain is the first season of annual grain production, and the yield exceeds 1/5 of the annual grain production. As the earliest ripe wheat area of summer grain, the southwest wheat area ushered in a large-scale harvest.

The latest agricultural situation dispatch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that the winter wheat harvest in southwest China has exceeded 30%. Where does the southwest wheat area cover, and what is the distribution of winter wheat in China, let's first understand it through a short film.

This year, the area of winter wheat in the country is stable at more than 3 million mu

This year, the area of winter wheat in the country continued to stabilize at more than 3 million mu. According to the regional division, China's winter wheat cultivation can be divided into four regions: southwest, northwest, north China, Huang-Huai-Hai, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Among them, the southwest wheat area includes Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, and the winter wheat area is about 3 million mu, accounting for 4.1500%. The northwest wheat area includes Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia and Xinjiang, with a winter wheat area of about 4 million mu, accounting for 5.3500%; North China and Huanghuaihai wheat area include Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong and Henan, with a winter wheat area of about 10 million mu, accounting for 5.2%; The wheat area in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River includes Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan, with a winter wheat area of 67.79 million mu, accounting for 6.1817%;

The southwest region has accumulated temperature and good sunlight and is the first to usher in the harvest

In terms of harvest time, the southwest wheat area begins to harvest in early May every year. The wheat harvest in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River begins in late May and lasts until early June. The harvest began in early June in the wheat areas of North China and Huanghuaihai and in the northwest wheat area and lasted until the end of June.

Due to the sufficient temperature and good light in the southwest region, the wheat growth period is relatively shorter than that of other wheat areas, so it is the first to harvest every year.

Sichuan: Cultivated land transformation and upgrading opens up space for increasing production in hilly and mountainous areas

Sichuan, the largest wheat-producing area in southwest China, has been upgraded this year to further open up space for increasing production in hilly and mountainous areas.

CCTV reporter Shi Shaoyu: This is the core demonstration area of 1,000 mu of high-standard farmland in Bazhou District, Bazhong City, Sichuan Province. Large harvesters are shuttling back and forth through the wheat fields, rushing to grab the wheat.

Zhang Ze, a major grain grower in Bazhou District, Bazhong City, Sichuan Province: This year's weather is good, the rain is sufficient, and the wheat harvest has been bumper; the yield of one mu of land like this is 500 kg, an increase of about 50 kg on the basis of last year.

Bazhou District is located in the hinterland of Qinba Mountain, with many mountains and few flat lands. In order to open up space for increasing production, the local government has vigorously improved the basic conditions of agricultural production through measures such as high-standard farmland construction and drought water conversion, and 52,<> mu of high-standard farmland have been built in the whole region.

Liu Yingde, director of the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Bazhou District, Bazhong City: At present, more than 20,700 mu of wheat in the region have fully entered the harvest period, and we have organized more than <> combine harvesters to rush the harvest and ensure that the pellets are returned to the warehouse.

In Chaba Town, Enyang District, Bazhong City, 2300,1200 mu of wheat has matured. Last year, Chaba Town transformed scattered land and slope land into contiguous arable land through wasteland management, and the cultivated land area increased by <>,<> mu.

Zhang Yimin, mayor of Chaba Town, Enyang District, Bazhong City: The town has added more than 800 mu of wheat area, plus the selection of fine seeds, deep ploughing and deep pine, and formula fertilization to ensure stable wheat yield and increase yield.

This year, the total area of wheat in Sichuan is about 880.5 million mu, a slight increase over last year. It is expected that during the "three summers", 4,5 combine harvesters will participate in wheat harvesting in Sichuan Province.

Guizhou: Mountainous areas promote dense wheat planting technology and mechanize harvesting

More than 170.<> million mu of wheat are also being harvested in Guizhou Province, where new technologies and varieties are being promoted this year to yield higher yields from limited arable land.

CCTV reporter Liu Cheng: I am now in a wheat field in Baixing Town, Nayong County, Guizhou, and now the wheat here has begun to be harvested, and unlike the plain plot, the wheat field of nearly 20 acres behind me is already a relatively large area of continuous wheat cultivation in Guizhou. Therefore, digging technology and selecting good seeds are important breakthroughs in local grain production.

The reporter learned that this is the first large-scale mechanized harvest of wheat since local wheat was grown.

Shang Jinfu, a villager in the sitting foot community of Baixing Town, Nayong County: It feels good, very good. For example, this land on our side has about four acres, and it may take four people a day to harvest it manually, and it is very tiring. But with this wheat harvester to cut, it only takes more than ten minutes to harvest it, the effect is very good, very trouble-free.

The change is due to the promotion of new technologies for wheat cultivation. Guizhou is the only province in China without plains, and due to the influence of terrain and traditional planting habits, local farmers generally adopt the mode of wheat and corn planting. However, this method not only does not have high crop yields, but also is not conducive to mechanized operations. In order to increase grain production, starting from 2021, Baixing Town and the Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences have built demonstration fields, selected high-quality wheat varieties, and trialed new technologies for the planting of wheat in the local area.

Wang Wei, deputy director of the Institute of Dry Grain of the Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences: It is through the appropriate sowing amount that the planting density of our wheat per mu has increased from the original 17,18 to 24,25 ears to 200,<> to <>,<> effective ears, thereby increasing the yield of our wheat and increasing the yield by about <> jin per mu.

Wang Wei told reporters that by promoting wheat dense planting technology, not only the yield has been improved, but the cultivation and harvesting operations have also become more convenient.

Wang Wei, deputy director of the Institute of Dry Grain of the Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences: In the past, because there was corn in the wheat field, the machine could not go to the field, and after the planting mode changed, the wheat harvesting was mechanized.

This year, Guizhou Province has continued to promote science and technology to help farmers, and has sent 19871,1829 agricultural technicians to form 2,<> teams to the fields to carry out agricultural technical services, striving to increase grain yields by more than <>% on average.
