• What happened to... Jacqueline de la Vega, the popular model and presenter of the 90s who triumphs as a hospitality entrepreneur in Bali

While for the vast majority who appear on television, fame becomes a drug, there are others who prefer to stay away and even give the scared. This happened to Jaime Bores (54), who at the end of the nineties was one of the most popular faces of the small screen since he debuted nationally on TVE with Digan lo que digan (1997-1999). For this work he was nominated for the TP de Oro for best presenter. Previously he had been for three years the weather boy in Madrid Directo, on Telemadrid.

Inmaculada Galván: religious, two daughters, married to a photographer... This is the discreet life of the presenter

Always smiling, attractive, with a hook and with a very particular tone of voice, Bores knew how to conquer the audience. She also presented some specials, such as the Miss Spain 2000 Gala with Esther Arroyo (55) in which Helen Lindes (41) was chosen. That space marked him considerably since like the blunder of Warren Beatty (86) and Faye Dunaway (82) after erroneously announcing at the 2017 Oscars which was the best film, the Basque presenter confused the name of the winner.

But something was happening inside him that in that decade in which he was at the top he retired from the medium twice for long periods of time. One of them occurred in 2005, when he left everything to move to Argentina where he opened an apartment rental business for tourists that failed soon after. In his return to TV in Antena 3 he was in charge of La granja (2004), Pelopicopata (2005) and La buena onda de la tarde (2005).

Despite the variety of formats, it did not find its north. He felt lost. In addition, he was known for his bad temper with the editorial team of his spaces to which he answered in bad ways. In an interview with Jordi González (60) in La noria (2011) he apologized publicly and blamed it on the strong stress he went through. In that famous program he gave several headlines: "I was the king of trash TV" or "I have not earned much money, although I knew how to manage it"

In 2012 he slammed the door on television. In his last interview with ABC, he stressed that "Ileft because I wanted to be anonymous again. I don't have relevance or look for it, it's a life so far away that it seems like someone else's." He lives between Asturias and Madrid linked to several catering businesses. He has never married, has no children and his greatest ambition in life has been to be free without strings attached.
