It was Expressen that first wrote about a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old escaping from a Sis home outside Gothenburg. Both are suspected of having been involved in shootings in the Stockholm area.

"I can confirm that two boys climbed over the fence and then absconded. These two young people were on their way from school to a department, says Hesam Akbari, press secretary at the National Board of Institutions (Sis), to TT.

Never prosecuted

The 15-year-old who escaped is a resident of Nyköping and is suspected of having participated in a shooting at an apartment in Gubbängen in Stockholm in December last year.

"He was arrested on the spot with a gun," prosecutor Karin Hammar, who was the prosecutor in the case, told TT.

"He was under 15 at the time and not of legal age. He was never prosecuted and we did not bring any evidentiary proceedings against him. However, he was placed on Sis after the incident.

In April, two other teenage boys from Nyköping were sentenced to juvenile detention for involvement in it and another shooting.
