RIA Novosti writes about it.

New York Times journalists received the 2023 award in the International Journalism category. In December 2022, the publication released an investigation, which, according to journalists, allegedly made it possible to identify a specific military unit of the Russian Armed Forces involved in the events in Bucha.

The award was also given to Associated Press photographers who were recognized for their work in Mariupol.

The Russian side calls last year's events in Bucha staged and rejects accusations of involvement in the mass death of the local civilian population.

In April, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, showed journalists evidence of the staged nature of the situation in Bucha.

Journalists were shown a video in which the mayor of Bucha looked happy and smiling.

On May 23, Nebenzia said that the Western media, under the pressure of facts, were forced to admit the death of many residents of Bucha as a result of artillery strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
