In France, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron innovates for the commemorations of May 8, 1945, marking the end of the Second World War. This year after the ascent of the Champs-Élysées, the review of the troops or the revival of the flame of the unknown soldier under the Arc-de-Triomphe, the head of state is expected in the early afternoon at the memorial of the prison of Montluc in Lyon. He is to preside over a ceremony to pay tribute to Jean Moulin, a leading figure of the Resistance, as the 80th anniversary of his arrest and death approaches. Calls for a "breakdown" on the sidelines of his visit have already been made.

It is a question of "paying tribute to the figure of Jean Moulin and the French Resistance" from the prison of Montluc (third arrondissement of Lyon), high place of French national memory, explains the Elysee. Forty-four Jewish children were interned there before being deported and murdered in Nazi extermination camps during the Second World War (1939-1945). A tribute will be paid to all these victims, notably through the figure of Jean Moulin who notably unified the networks of the Resistance.

Messages

On the side of the Elysée it is also explained that the head of state will undoubtedly have some messages related to the current context to convey, such as the "political role of first importance" played by Jean Moulin in the National Council of the Resistance. A CNR, which brought together "all the forces of the internal resistance, the right, the left", the two major unions of the time, "the CFTC and the CGT who decide to move together".

The French President will be accompanied by his Minister of Justice and the Minister of Education; He should hear a few pots and pans, as on his last trips. Calls for the rally have already been broadcast on the internet.
