In the western part of the city: the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation spoke about the offensive in Artyomovsk

In the Artyomovsk area, aviation made five sorties, while the artillery of the Southern Group performed 69 fire missions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Also, artillery fire and air strikes hit units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Krasnoe, Bogdanovka, Stupochki and Chasiv Yar (DPR).

"In the Donetsk direction, assault detachments continued to conduct an offensive in the western part of the city of Artyomovsk of the Donetsk People's Republic. The airborne troops supported them and pinned down units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the flanks, "said Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the department, during a briefing.

On May 7, the Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces occupied two quarters in the northwestern and western parts of Artyomovsk.

On the night of May 8, the head of the Zaporozhye movement "We are together with Russia" Vladimir Rogov announced the beginning of a powerful assault in Artyomovsk. According to RIA Novosti, the fighters of the Wagner PMC stormed the building near the medical school in the west of the city.

The day before, the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, indicated that 2,37 sq. km remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The situation in the NWO zone

According to the information report of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the total losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk direction over the past day amounted to: more than 380 Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries, one tank, four armored combat vehicles, six vehicles, an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery mount, two D-20 howitzers, and one D-30.

Also in the DPR, two ammunition depots of the 54th mechanized and 80th airborne assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed.

In the Kupyansk direction, the actions of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were suppressed. Air strikes and artillery fire of the Western Group of Forces eliminated up to 55 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three tanks, five armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles, as well as a D-30 howitzer.

Earlier it was reported that the aviation of the Zapadnaya group of troops in the Kupyansk direction struck at the point of deployment of foreign mercenaries in the Kharkiv region.

In the Krasnoliman direction, operational-tactical and army aviation, artillery fire of the Center group of forces defeated enemy units in the LPR and DPR. More than 70 Ukrainian servicemen, three armored combat vehicles, an Acacia self-propelled artillery mount, as well as two D-20 howitzers were destroyed.

On the Pivdennyi Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia fronts, two ammunition depots of the 72nd Mechanized and 128th Mountain Assault Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed. At the same time, air strikes and artillery fire of the Vostok group of forces eliminated up to 70 Ukrainian militants, three armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, and a D-20 howitzer.

In the Kherson direction, as a result of fire damage, more than 50 Ukrainian servicemen, seven vehicles, as well as an Msta-B howitzer were destroyed.

"In the area of the settlement of Balakliya, Kharkiv region, a warehouse with weapons and military equipment of the grouping of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was hit," said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

Over the past day, air defense systems destroyed 15 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

In addition, the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" reported that the Russian Aerospace Forces changed the tactics of missile strikes on the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is also indicated that the list of targets has increased significantly: trains and transferred reserves are being destroyed.

At the same time, Ukrainian air defense systems began to react much more slowly, and in some cases only after the first arrivals. Probably, the reason is the shortage of not only radars, but also S-300 launchers and other air defense equipment.
