[On the occasion of the coronation of Charles III] Discover the untold story of Queen and Empress Victoria, told by Virginie Girod. Nothing was destined to reign the girl who is 18 years old when she is crowned. However, Victoria, Queen of England, will leave her mark on her time and her empire for 63 years. Victoria ascended the throne on 20 June 1837, on the death of her uncle William IV. The Kingdom of Victoria is a colonial empire that spans 5 continents. On the Pacific side, Victoria ruled several islands in South Asia and controlled the Indian subcontinent. In 1876, Prime Minister Disraeli proposed to Parliament that Victoria be created the title Empress of India. The Queen was then at the head of the largest and most powerful European colonial empire. As early as 1926, the United Kingdom was able to gradually transform its colonies into a new international organization called the Commonwealth. Today, King Charles III of England is the head of the Commonwealth.
