As part of its transformation, where cost and resource efficiency is in focus, Volvo Cars will lay off 1300 employees in Sweden, the company announces via a press release.

"Economic headwinds, increased commodity prices and increased competition are likely to remain a challenge for our industry for some time," said Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars.

Reduces consultants

The positions that will disappear are located at the global operating unit Volvo Car Corporation and various legal units in Sweden, and correspond to approximately 6 percent of the total number of employees in Sweden.

The company will also review and reduce the number of consultants and purchased services.
