Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed the name of the new fighter jet that Turkey began producing, during a speech on Monday during his participation in the "Century of the Future" ceremony to introduce the products of the Turkish defense industries.

Erdogan said that the plane bears the name "Qaan", and would make Turkey one of 5 countries producing this type of fifth-generation fighter aircraft in the world, explaining that it will complete its tests within several years to join the arsenal of the Turkish Air Force.

The Turkish president considered that his country is living on this occasion a "remarkable day" in the history of Turkish defense and aviation, pointing out that the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahceli is the owner of the idea of naming the national fighter "Qaan".

Erdogan, who is preparing to run in crucial presidential elections in about two weeks, said peace, justice and truth would take root in the region and the world as Turkey strengthened its strength.

The Turkish president reviewed a series of military achievements of his country, noting that the local aircraft "Free Jet" will soon join the air force fleet, and will be among the planes on board the warship "TGC Anatolia".

He added that the Hurr Jet would partially replace the U.S. F-16 fighter jets by equipping them with local weapons and radars.

He also pointed out that the "Free Gosh" aircraft - which Turkey began manufacturing for the benefit of friendly and brotherly countries - has become an international mark, stressing that the first batches of it will be delivered soon to Niger and Chad, while the Turkish fighter drone "Phoenix-3M" will fly its first flight in the coming days.
