"You need to wash vegetables, fruits, berries, dried fruits and even nuts - whatever you are going to cook or serve raw. This also applies to those fruits that are eaten without peel, such as bananas, kiwi or oranges. During transportation, dirt collects on them, which will fall on the pulp through the hands, "explained the expert doctor of the Gemotest laboratory.

According to him, most often it is enough to wash your hands with soap and water, and then rinse the products under cool running water for five to ten seconds.

"If the fruits are too dirty, use a special detergent: you should not abuse it, but it is quite appropriate to remove wax from apples and pears. Root vegetables - potatoes, radishes, beets, carrots, parsnips - it is convenient to wash with a soft brush, you can do the same with pumpkin, melon and watermelon, "the specialist explained.

To clean leafy vegetables and herbs well, put them in a container of water for a couple of minutes, and then rinse lightly and let the water drain.

"The same method is suitable for small berries with dense skin: currants, cherries, blueberries, sea buckthorn. But tender strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and mulberries should be handled delicately: when soaked, it may lose its appearance, so wash it quickly, with a weak water pressure and immediately before eating, "the interlocutor of RT emphasized.

He recalled that at a picnic, too, you should not neglect washing vegetables and fruits.

The doctor advised to do this at home in advance or take a sufficient amount of clean water with you to nature.

Earlier, sports nutritionist and nutritionist Anton Brykin told in an interview with RT why it is necessary to have breakfast daily and how the absence of this meal can affect health.
