The French are more and more addicted to the sun and especially to solar panels, to light and heat because cheaper than with the conventional electricity grid. Audrey Zermati, Strategic Director at Effy, a specialist in energy renovation:

"At the beginning of 2023, if we compare with 2021, we have a growth of more than 150%. We have 277,000 homes that produce their energy consumption on their roofs. »

But how much potential savings on the electricity bill? "We are going on savings on our bills between 30 and 40%," according to Audrey Zermati.

What rules must be followed to install solar panels? It requires planning permission from the Town Hall for most installations, the power, the height from the ground, the location determines the type of authorization.

We see that we save on our bills, but what is the cost of installation? It has a cost, but you can find your way around with the savings over the years. Be careful, there may be scams during installation.

"You have to be careful and guard against too tempting ads that tell us that you will be 100% autonomous. It's not true! You will be dependent on the network at night. You have to pay attention to the promises of free signs. For an average house, we are on a cost of 9 to 10,000 euros. »

For panels guaranteed for 25 years, in case of problems, they are replaced free of charge by the installer, so do not panic.

But is there any help? It's not a party at that level. No renovation premium, no 0 rate loan, just a small investment premium of 1,000 euros regardless of your income. A bonus that is given to you on the anniversary date of the installation, one year later. Bruno Lemaire, if you listen to us!

"The most important message is to have a VAT of 5.5% like all energy renovation works"

And yes because VAT on solar panels is 10% today, which is a problem compared to other heating solutions.
