It was on Tuesday morning that the accident occurred at Fazer's bakery in Umeå. According to the company, the man had a dump truck over him and died from his injuries.

"Our focus remains today on supporting our employees and being close at hand. Production has gradually started up again. We cannot comment further at this time on what caused this tragic accident as it is an ongoing investigation, writes Karin Senning Planstedt, Communications Officer at Fazer, in an email to SVT.

Investigates the scene and holds interrogations

The incident is being investigated by the National Unit for Environmental and Work Environment Objectives and the classification is currently work environment crime by causing the death of another.

"Technicians and other police officers were on site yesterday. We will hold hearings and investigate what we need to find out what happened and caused the accident. Then we look at whether there is anything that has been broken, says Christer B Jarlås, prosecutor at the National Unit for Environmental and Work Environment Cases.

Production was stopped

The Swedish Work Environment Authority is also investigating the incident.

– We will investigate what safety procedures exist and whether they have been followed, and what measures have been taken after the accident, says Madeleine Wahter, section manager at the Swedish Work Environment Authority region north.

Production at the company was halted on Monday but has gradually resumed on Tuesday.
